Microsoft’s New Pocket Ace - Microsoft Surface

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

Microsoft has just announced a new technology that is poised to be the next big thing. The Apple iPhone may be taking the multi-touch screen to the mobile market in a new way but it appears that Microsoft is slated to do the same everywhere else with its new “Surface” . While this technology seems new it has actually been around for awhile. However, it wasn’t until Jeff Han’s demonstration at the TED conference in 2006 that people really got a chance to see what was typically reserved for science fiction become a reality. It would appear that the folks over at Microsoft got a hold of Jeff and the end product is what we expect to see with Surface. I personally am very excited about what this will do for the computer industry. I love what I am seeing and quite simply can’t wait to see more. Below is Jeff Han’s original demonstration of what his new multi touch technology is capable of and make sure to check out the Microsoft site that has some very fun videos demonstrating what they believe Surface will provide for them. And just because I will probably never live this post down, this post is dedicated to Andrew Venegas for first introducing this technology to me. And yes Drew, I wrote it off as a novelty just the first time you showed me and again about four days ago but now I believe in Jeff Han.

Summer and A The Daily Life Without School

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

I have come to the conclusion that I don’t like summer vacation (that is the break between my semesters in college). It has been less then a week and I am perpetually bored, lonely, and unproductive. I feel like my day to day life without the structure of school is just meaningless. To top it off, everyday that goes by seems waisted because I am not doing anything but I can’t motivate myself to do anything because there is nothing to plan around. So I’ve just been sitting around… waiting for something to happen. It’s really sad… and I so god damn hungry! I need to go grocery shopping stat and do laundry. Those are my goals for the next two days. That and pass my CPR test. I hope that I stop feeling crappy… That raps it up. ::insert commercial voice here:: “This ranting seasion is brought to you by Burke’s hungry belly.”

The Minimalist Kitchen

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

I found this little gem of an article and thought it was totally worthy of passing on. Being that I love to cook and that I am in college, this low budget look at how to properly stock a kitchen was great. I think I will be heading down to my local kitchen supply shop soon.

New Blog Feature - Polls!

Sunday, May 27th, 2007

I have hunted down what should be a great new polling plugin for WordPress by Andrew Sutherland, the man behind Quizlet (if you haven’t heard of Quizlet check it out!). Democracy, as it is called, allows polls to be placed within posts, pages, and comes with a widget for the sidebar should you want it. I will be using it largely for opinions on projects and such. I will keep you all posted on its performance should I encounter any thing unusual. Check out my first poll in my post about my new bussiness cards.
