New Photos Added

Monday, March 26th, 2007

I have still yet to finish the gallery completely. I have, however, been snapping photos like crazy and adding them to the gallery. So when it does finally get finished at least it will have content. Anywho, these photos should explain this weekend and its events pretty well. So check out this weekend of adventure at gallery.axisds.com. I am currently in Fresno for a few days but will be returning to San Jose later this week. The free time that Spring break will be offering should provide for a some major work to get done. So be sure to check back sometime this week to see whats up. Until next time…

A Few Accolades

Thursday, March 22nd, 2007

It would appear that I have lost my #1 spot on Google to Drew yet again. When you search my name Drew’s blog is the first to mention me. I have been trying rather hard to take back my spot but it has been difficult. However, in my quest I have discovered a few things. The first being that I am apparently in a video on Port 80 and a while back I did an interview for Clickz about a new video message service called Gab Mail that made its way to the web. Anywho… I really should get back to my class work…

Just Tell Me That Is Not Damn Sexy

Wednesday, March 21st, 2007

I’m sorry to spam my own blog but really people, I am so damn amused with lightbox it’s not even funny. I keep reloading this page over and over just to see it what random pictures will pop up so that I can fire up lightbox and look at them. I find this rather ridicules but it is amusing to no end. I love it people. LOVE IT! If you haven’t played with it yet people do. Its amazing. Just click on an image anywhere on this page (minus the header). Go! Click! What are you waiting for. If you have clicked to you hearts content simply refresh the page and new images will be generated. It’s great! Anywho, I am off to play with lightbox some more just because I can. I might do some more editing to the gallery as well though because that needs to get done. And when it does get finished that highly anticipated site release will hit the web. Fresh for you all to see. Until then amuse yourself with light box. It’s amazing!

Official Site Update Comming Soon!

Tuesday, March 20th, 2007

So I have been doing a lot around here to really kick things up a notch. As of late I have made several minor updates and changes to the blog. Today was yet another day of progress in which I added another big element to my site, a photo gallery. As of now I have installed and started to tweak Plogger and added a subdomain gallery.axisds.com. Plogger is a great open source photo gallery that does just about everything you could want it to do and more. I then went ahead and installed two WordPress plugins to feed my Plogger gallery to WordPress. The first is a Plogger plugin that was created by Living Open Source. I found tuns of useful information there even though it was a bit on the advanced user side due to lack of more detailed descriptions. It also led me to the second plugin I installed called Light Box. Light Box basically just adds some cool viewing options that I find very useful for WordPress. Similar effects are in use at Digg.com with how they show YouTube videos and such. Anwyho, it is very late and I want some sleep so I am off to bed. I will continue to tweak it, make it fit my visual theme, and add more content so check back for the official v2.6 site release. As for now feel free to browse the current gallery at gallery.axisds.com and report back any bugs you might find.

Google Calendar

Sunday, March 18th, 2007

I was just investigating how to embed Google Calendar in WordPress and to my surprise this is one topic that isn’t extensively covered from beginning to end by the army of WordPress users. It is addressed but there is no definitive solution like most issues raised in the WordPress community. There is a plugin and a widget that people have been using but it appears neither do a great job or work 100% of the time. I, however, have managed to implement Google Calendar in a very easy and clean way that suits my needs. So I will be releasing a full write up on how I did it for you all to see soon. Until then go check out my calendar, it’s a bit barren but I will be using more now that I have a real use for it.

A Night To Remember

Sunday, March 18th, 2007

To be honest last night really wasn’t anything I hadn’t experienced before but it was the first time I have ever had a camera to chronicle the events of such a night. I am a bit busy so I will keep this short but check out the gallery below it pretty much says it all in about seventy five pictures. To my dear friends, this one is for you…

St. Patrick’s Day 2007

For all of you that happen to have the new Sherwood Album I would suggest queuing up track 6 - Alley Cat. I found it to fit with the pictures very well.

Women Files Law Suit Against Archive.org

Saturday, March 17th, 2007

So for whatever reason there is a crazy women who has decided to sue Archive.org for copy right infringement. She has apparently created a section of her website devoted to her right for copyright over her words. In it she says that if a bot or spider of any kind crawls her site.

So basically, what I think is going on here is that she found a loop whole in the fundamental way that the internet works and is set up and has decided to sue any and all companies that crawl her site. I honestly can’t see any of these law suits falling in her favor but if by chance one did they would clearly be in the likes of the McDonald’s hot coffee law suit. It really just feels like a claim for attention more then anything but I say make your own opinion of the situation and check out for your self here and the digg article here if that tickles your fancy.

Anywho, I am off to enjoy the rest of St. Patrick’s Day but this was just to ridiculous to pass up.

St. Patricks Day

Saturday, March 17th, 2007

Today is the day of the Irish. The day the world wishes for a heritage of green. For myself this not much of a stretch given that I am largely Irish. It shows in my predominately red beard and practically translucent skin. With my Irish heritage now in full acknowledgment, today will consist of a pancake breakfast, fallowed by dinner preparation, then dinner eating, and lastly a random adventure. Through out the day there will likely be heavy amounts of drinking by my friends and I will remain sober so as to be the DD for the day. I do however have to admit that pancakes are calling me so I must go. But if I get bored later I will likely be back to blog some more.

New Category - This week: Music

Friday, March 16th, 2007

So in my attempt to blog more I have decided include more of the things I enjoy most in life. So in todays post, I will give a run down on some of the new music I have been listening to. I have been moderately involved with the music scene for some years and while I am no longer a DJ on the radio and no longer frequent shows every week; the experiences and people I have met have left me with a network of people who still remain heavily rooted in music. Let’s get this ball rolling…

Sherwood: A Different Light
Released last Tuesday and available in a record shop near you, these guys have been hitting the indie pop rock scene for some years now but have just recently signed to newly formed MySpace records. They have just released a new record titled “A Different Light” and it is, SO GOOD! For those of you new to Sherwood’s music you will have a great blend of their past styles and there present and for those who have already heard then there will be no disappointment here. With redone tracks off of their last Summer EP and a bunch of catchy new ones this is a solid LP from beginning to end. I have even had the benefit of meeting these guys a number of times and let me tell you, they are as down to earth and legit as they come. So run out snag a copy of their new release and watch for them in a city near you as they are going on tour with Relient K and Mae (both of which are amazing!).

Maylene And The Sons Of Disaster: II
This new album from Maylene is one of the best albums to come out this year. II will being hitting the stores next Tuesday and is well worth the trip to the store. With all the southern twang one could ever want with out going completely country (by God if that happens shoot me), these guys have mastered the southern rock style and brought it to the 21st century. Those of you who have snagged a copy of their previous self titled will find this equally as engaging as the last. While it may not have that munch you in the face feel of the last it will sure as hell make you want to get up and and rock out. And to top it off they too are on tour so keep an eye out.

That is it for today, but check back for reviews of the new Arcade Fire - Neon and a oldie but goodie Brand New’s 2006 release The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me. If you would like to see more of what I listen to on a regular basis you might also want to check out my last.fm account. I will also be adding more categories including Tech News and such so check back because things are achang’n around here. Lastly, a good friend of mine, Chris Gatihi, has just started blogging and has been posting some very spiritually engaging reads on his new blog so check it out here. Until tomorrow…
